Makeup Application - Tips for a Prettier You!

The best thing we girls have in our arsenal to enhance the features God gave us has got to be Makeup. So here are a few Makeup Application Tips that I have picked up over the years.

Try to match your makeup shade to your skin tone. A lot of people find it difficult to know what skin tone they are but if you look best in blues and purples you're probably cool while if your best colors are yellows and oranges you would be warm. Some people look good in both and are neutral.

Before applying your makeup, it's very important to cleanse and moisturize your face and neck. This will give you a nice clean palate to work with. Always cleanse and clean your face before bed. This helps to remove dirt and will prevent your pores from getting clogged. If you don't have any makeup remover, use some vegetable oil and a cotton pad to take it off.

After cleansing, use a toner to re-establish your skins basic pH and to minimize pores. When buying your makeup, it's best to know your skin and use

something that is formulated with your problem in mind. If you have oily skin buy one for your skin type and the same for dry or combination skin.

A commonly overlooked step in makeup application is the investment of good brushes. A good set of brushes will help you apply makeup more evenly and provide better coverage. It's also good for creating different looks. Remember though, your makeup brushes will get dirty so it's important to wash and clean them to prevent skin irritations from germs.

Different times of the day call for different makeup application looks. For a natural daytime look go neutral. You don't want your daytime makeup to be too overpowering and garish. Stay subtle and within your skin tone range.

For an Evening or mysterious look, you can use more blues or smokey greys. The smokey eye look is extremely popular and celebrities have been using this effect for years. It can be created pretty easily with the right brushes and eyeshadow. Usually, if you have a really dramatic eyeshadow it's best to be a little more neutral with your lip color. If wearing red lipstick, that would be the focal point of your face and neutral eyeshadow would be more appropriate.

For easy, middle of the day touch ups there are a variety of companies that make "all over" powders and cremes. They can fit in your purse and be used on the go.

For lips, it's important to moisturize them too. That will make your lips smoother and hold lipstick better. You can lightly ex-foliate them if they become dry and flaky. Use a washcloth and gently scrub.

To create an easy-to-wear neutral lipstick look, use clear gloss alone. For a shiny, fuller-lip look use a clear gloss over your favorite lipstick.

Makeup Application should be fun and easy. With the right practice, you should be able to experiment and find the best look for you. Remember, it's only makeup. If you don't like something you can always wash it off and start again.
